Whether there is any law preventing fighters to bet on their own fight or even to bet rather than the straight win was the legal condition that prevented the record broker, Floyd Mayweather from earning an addition betting gain of $400,000 to his victorious match against Conor McGregor that won him at least $300 million on Saturday.
Mayweather had knocked out McGregor at round 10 in a world most expensive fight in the history of boxing. Mayweather was so confident of his impending victory that he had attempted to get a bet placed on it.
At around 3:30 pm on Saturday, Floyd Mayweather strode into the sportsbook at the M Resort with $400,000 raw cash. He had wanted to place over/under 9.5 rounds on the match in which, placing an under would have brought a payout in a fight that Mayweather won with TKO in the 10th round.

The source of the failed betting revealed that Mayweather was unfortunate and could not get the bet at 200 odds. His unfortunate failure to place the bet was due to the fear by the betting company on the legality of a fighter betting on anything other than straight win. When that was ressolved there was another delay on whether Mayweather could bet on himself to win by knockout.
Before the causes of the delay could be legally resolved, an impatient - described by ESPN by an unnamed source with an expletive for "Angry" - left without wagering.
